SEPARATION PERFECTED
Music and Video: E.C. Goodman
Words: Guy Debord
Separation Perfected presents French radical Guy Debord’s conception of “the spectacle” as a metaphor for the voice of advanced technological civilization. The spectacle is a manufactured thought-world dominated by images of a happy multitude connected in meaningful and satisfying ways by the shows we watch, the technologies we use, and the products we consume.
Beneath the illusion, Debord argues, lies the crushing modern disease of alienation, a separation within and between human beings. The video exposes the spectacle’s Golden Rule: ALL THAT APPEARS IS GOOD — ALL THAT IS GOOD APPEARS.
